We haven’t gleaned much on the new iPhone’s camera nor have internal specs rumors been plentiful – most rumors have pertained to the look, feel and screen size of the sixth-generation Apple smartphone.
After all, it has been the unique design of the iPhone (despite the smaller screen size) that has made it so convenient, thus helping the device’s popularity greatly. We have information on both the camera and the design, courtesy of one of the more reliable insiders around.
Mingchi Kuo of KGI recently submitted a note to investors, and on the note were several speculations on the new iPhone, or in his words, the iPhone 5. According to Kuo, the iPhone 5 will include an FC or flip-chip for the front-facing camera and be capable of shooting high-definition photos.
In addition, the front camera would now be located in the middle. Kuo believes that such a feature would work well with the rumored 4-inch display. As for the rear-facing camera, it may likely remain at 8 megapixels, however the aperture range might be improved to f/2.2 from f/2.4.
Now here’s what you’ve probably been waiting for – the latest design speculations. Talking of thinness, Kuo had previously speculated that the new iPhone would be 7.9mm thick or less. Since Apple will apparently be using an in-cell touchscreen, this could make the new iPhone up to 0.4mm slimmer.
Among the other speculated features on the new iPhone include 4G LTE support and a new form factor, as well as Retina Display. The iPhone 5 is expected to be launched sometime in September or October.
